I would like to personally thank yourselves, Susan R, and Barbara S on behalf of my soldiers for your care packages (we received
all four). I’m the Platoon Leader of a 35 man infantry platoon, part of the 101st Airborne Division. We’re based
at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, but we have soldiers from all over. We’ve been in Iraq, North of Bagdad, for several weeks
now and have been quite busy learning our area and conducting operations. Despite the heavy workload everyone is in good spirits.
It feels good to receive support from home and it lets the soldiers know that they are on the minds of people at home. I’ve
divided the contents of your boxes and other boxes from anysoldier.com supporters between my four squad leaders and they’ve
distributed them to our soldiers. Everyone has been very excited and appreciative of your support. I’m especially appreciative
of your generous donation of Beanie Babies! We’ve encountered lots of Iraqi children on patrols and don’t have
much to give them other than candy. The Beanie Babies will be very helpful in our mission of building goodwill and trust with
the Iraqi people. We will be bringing them out on patrol with us and giving them to parents to give to their children, they
will love them. An important part of our mission is building trust and showing the Iraqi people that we care. I thank you
for helping us with that.
I hope that you all stay safe, thanks again!
Respectfully,
2LT Colin J. Lasater
